BJP protests against Cong's anti-people policy

Accusing the State Government of pursuing an anti-people policy, propping illegal mining and failing to control lawlessness, hundreds of BJP members led by Ajay Bhatt, leader of the Opposition in the Vidhan Sabha, demonstrated at the Secretariat in Dehradun on Thursday. The BJP leaders slammed the Chief Minister Harish Rawat for ignoring development in the constituencies where the BJP has its MlAs. They said they would not brook the CM making a mockery of democracy by indulging in sectarian politics.

The common people keep suffering with the CM and his cronies meting out step-motherly treatment to them for their fault of electing people from non-Congress parties,” said Bhatt.Police had made elaborate security arrangements by deploying senior cops, including SP City Ajay Singh, SP Traffic Pradeep Rai, CO SK Singh and others, to maintain law and order during the rally. Police administration has installed barricading at all entries leading to the Secretariat.

The BJP leaders and activists took out a rally that passed through various crossings before it reached the Secretariat. The BJP members were stopped at the barricade outside the Secretariat. The members squatted there.  The BJP leaders addressed the people who gathered there, alleging that the State Government has failed on fronts.

Bhatt alleged that the bureaucrats are defying the Government’s writ with the Government cravenly acquiescing. There is no development in the areas where his party has MlAs. He further alleged that the Rawat Government is acting pusillanimously while the mining mafias are calling the shots. The State exchequer keeps incurring losses because of the rampant unauthorized mining.  law and order has crumbled down with the minors falling prey to lust, he further said, adding that the people are waiting for the opportunity to oust the lame-duck Government.

Among those present on the occasion were the State party president Tirath Singh Rawat, Trivendra Singh Rawat, MlAs Harbans Kapur, Pushkar Dhami, Ganesh Joshi, Madan Kaushik, Puran Singh Fartiyal, Surendra Singh Jeena, Bishan Singh Chufal, Prem Chandra Aggarwal, Vijaya Barthwal, Rajkumar Thukral, Arvind Pandey, Harbhajan Singh Cheema and others.
