The committee set up by the Bharatiya Janata Party to probe into the spat between two of its MLAs from Haridwar district will hold its next meeting on May 24. The Khanpur MLA Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ has been asked to present his position on the said date.
The BJP State media in-charge Devendra Bhasin informed that the committee formed by the party’s state president Ajay Bhatt will now meet on May 24. The coordinator of the inquiry committee and MLA Khajan Das, members of the committee Vishwas Dawar and Kuldeep Kumar among others will be attending the meeting. The committee coordinator has requested Champion to present his side in front of the committee at 11 AM on May 24. Apart from the Khanpur MLA, other office bearers and workers of the party will also communicate with the inquiry committee. The meeting of the committee will be held at the party’s state office from 11 AM.
Bhasin further informed that earlier, the committee had collected various documents and conducted its meeting. The Jhabreda MLA Deshraj Karnwal and various office bearers of the party had presented their positions in the meeting held earlier. However, Champion had requested the committee coordinator for a later date since he was busy campaigning in the Lok Sabha elections. With the elections now over, the committee will hold its meeting a day after the poll results will be declared. The inquiry committee will submit its report and recommendations to the party’s state president. Further action will be taken based on the report and recommendations of the committee.
It will be recalled that the Khanpur MLA and his Jhabreda counterpart had a public spat through the media which peaked during April. The controversy appeared to have been resolved in a meeting of the two MLAs in the residence of CM Trivendra Singh Rawat. However, the issue had escalated again after Karnwal approached the high court in an old case.
