Most of the speakers expressed displeasure over the party’s defeat in assembly polls and local bodies’ election while few leaders were seen giving explanation on party’s defeat as well.

For instance, ex-CM Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, who could not protect his Doiwala Vidhan Sabha, which was vacated by him after becoming member of lok sabha by winning in recently concluded general election from Hariwar Parliamentary constituency, was seen giving explanation on party’s defeat in assembly bypoll. In his address Dr Nishank said that in assembly bypoll generally people go by the ruling party so there is no question arises about sabotage. Despite defeat our vote percentage has increased so no need to get panic on it.

Giving explanation on party’s defeat in recently concluded elections, state BJP president Teerath Singh Rawat said that party has collected the information about the party leaders’ role during by-poll and local bodies’ election from district committee. Meanwhile, Udhamsinghnagar MP and ex-CM Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, who was sharing dais with other dignitaries during inaugural ceremony, categorically said that recent assembly by-polls defeat has made serious dent among party cadre because party had performed very well during general election and lost assembly bypoll within two and half month so need to be investigated.

It has maligned the party image in the State because it was first such election after general election.

He also reiterated that we have to work from bottom of heart to serve the people because they have shown faith on us by giving their mandate to the BJP during general election. By saying this Koshiyari earned round of applause from gathering as if they were desperately waiting to hear these words.

It would be pertinent to mention here that Gen Khanduri, who could not attend the meeting due to family reason, had already expressed his disappointment over the party’s defeat in both elections.

Although he refused to make any individual accountable for the defeat, but hinted that it is a matter of investigation. Although most of the speakers raised question mark over the huge cash flow in local bodies election so we should find out a way about how to decrease use of money and muscle power during election.
