A delegation of BJP MlAs headed by the leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha, Ajay Bhatt, submitted a memorandum to Governor Dr Aziz Qureshi calling for dissolution of the Bhati commission and cancellation of the appointment of Agriculture Minister Harak Singh Rawat to the post of the chairman of Terai Seeds and Development Corporation.
The BJP MlAs said that the formation of the Bhati commission and appointment of Rawat were unconstitutional. The delegation also urged the Governor to order CBI probe over the State Government's alleged role in selling several pieces of lands at Haridwar and Pantnagar at much lower price than its actual price. After lending ear to the delegation comprising BJP MlAs including the leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha, Dr Qureshi assured that he will take judicious steps according to his jurisdiction into this matter.
The delegation expressed concern over the issue that the Congress-led State Government has orchestrated a land scam by selling the several acres of land marked for displaced villagers of Tehri to land mafias and builders by selling at much lower prices. The delegation also alleged that the State Government is purposely selling several pieces of land adjoining Dehradun-based IT Park and temple land to builders and land mafias.
According to them, the State Government had earlier taken a decision to run state based sugar mills on PPP (Public Private Partnership) and give status of private university to some private institutions, despite these institutions failing to meet required specifications that caused heavy loss to Uttarakhand. The BJP delegation also highlighted that the state government has completely failed to take concrete steps to improve the basic amenities which include road, potable water, medical and health etc. especially in the remote parts of Uttarakhand, resulting
villagers are forced to traverse several kilometres.
They also lamented that the State Government is busy quashing beneficiary projects and schemes introduced by former BJP Government during its regime in Uttarakhand. Former Chief Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, MlA Harbans Kapur, former BJP State Chief Bishan Singh Chufal, Maalchand and others were also present.
