Demanding CBI inquiry into the alleged rape and abortion of an inmate of Nari Niketan and death of two inmates of the shelter home, scores of Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha members continued with their stir on Friday.
The sit-in that has entered into the seventh day on Friday has been going on outside Gandhi Park in Dehradun.
Mussoorie MlA Ganesh Joshi and BJP senior leaders like Munna Singh Chauhan and Umesh Aggarwal addressed the rally.
BJP leader Munna Singh Chauhan accused the State Government of protecting some high- profile persons allegedly connected with the Congress in the shoddy matter, they said.
They cited a senior Congress leader Rekha Arya visiting the shelter home and giving it a clean chit after things flared up over the alleged rape/ abortion of the inmate.
They also said that none other than the State Congress chief Kishore Upadhyay had also said that nothing sordid had happened at the State government-run home.
This clearly reveals that some high-profile persons loyal to the ruling party were involved in the matter, the BJP MlA from Mussoorie said, adding that his party would continue with the stir, demanding CBI probe into the matter.
