BJP leader talks to solve Terhi dam displaced people's woes

The Dobrachanthi Pull Banao Samiti’s chief convener and senior BJP leader Rajeshwar Prasad Painuly met people of Raika Dharmandal’s Okhlakhal, Dharkot and other villages under Pratapnagar Assembly constituency to discuss  the problems they have been facing  after  Tehri dam came up.He said that Pratapnagar had suffered most for the dam. “But they are  being   ignored in matters of  rehabilitation and compensation. Things are vegetating  partly because of  corruption and partly for administrative apathy,” he said, adding  that Dobrachanthi bridge and Bhadiyana Motana ropeway remaining incomplete  are instances of sluggish approach to solve  their problems.
He said that the Samiti  had been fighting for completion of the bridge for a long time. The state government has stirred itself into action because of this, he claimed. “We would fight too to have the water  scarcity and land erosion problems solved,” he said.  He demanded Pratpnagar region be  made backward area to speed up development. He also demanded  that apart from nine crematoriums being constructed around the Dam- affected parts by THDC and Rehabilitation department,  some more should be built near Bhaldiyana and Jalkur.
