BJP leader Pradeep Batra's under-construction complex sealed

Following a complaint filed against BJP leader Pradeep Batra, who has recently joined the party along with eight other  rebel Congress leaders, Haridwar Roorkee Development Authority (HRDA) has sealed his under-construction shopping complex. As a part of routine activity, HRDA also sealed other buildings in the area which had violated the specific norms.

It is alleged that the former legislator from Roorkee, Pradeep Batra had raised some RCC columns in basement of the complex without taking prior approval in the map and had extended the construction area more than the approved space. The complex is being made by Pradeep Batra, his wife Manisha Batra and an associate Ram Agarwal, it is learnt.

Speaking to The Pioneer, HRDA vice-chairman Harbans Singh Chugh said, “Based on the report from my department, action has been taken as part of routine activity of HRDA. There is no other intention. We had released the order a couple of days ago.” When asked about the future course of action, he said, “There are certain offences which are compoundable and others are not. Based on the response of the offender and probe, further action would be taken. Due to other exigencies and priorities, the activity of HRDA had been halted for a while. Now more sealing actions would follow.”
