BJP leader accuses State FM of intimidating voters

Published on:

Senior BJP leader and former vice –chairman of the state minority commission Mazhar Naeem Nawab, has accused the State Finance Minister and MlA from Haldwani Indira Hridayesh of intimidating the voters from the minority sections of the society  to seek votes.

Releasing CD recording of her speech Nawab alleged that theMlA from Haldwani had in her speech asked the people particularly theminority section of the society that if they don’t vote for theCongress party in the upcoming civic elections, the permit granted forcollection of riverbed material from the Gola river will be cancelled.

It is to note that a majority of the population of the Haldwaniregion is dependent on the collection of the riverbed materials fromthe Gola river for livelihood.

The State Finance Minister who won the last assembly election fromthis seat with a huge margin, is now threatening the same  people whohelped her register such landslide victory.

She has clearly threatenedin her speech that  in case they don’t support the Congress party in these civic polls, they would be rendered jobless as  the Congress led State Government would  cancel  the permit  granted to allowcommercial exploitation of the Gola river  for riverbed materials, Nawab alleged.

It is quite unacceptable. The BJP condemns this and would strongly take up the issue with the state election commission and other forums as it is quite concerning the way the voters of the minority sectionsof the society are being intimidated, Nawab further said.A huge section of the minorities are still on the margin of thesociety. But the way the State Minister and MlA from Haldwani isthreatening the minorities to seek their votes is quite misuse ofpower. That  is why we also  demand that she should be  sacked,.
