BJP is now out to vitiate State's social environment: PCC prez

Published on:

Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Kishore Upadhyay  alleged on Friday that after failing to topple the democratically elected Congress Government in the State using money and muscle power, the  Opposition  BJP is now out to  vitiate the social environment of the State.

“They will continue to do so till the assembly election is  over. This is because they want to grab power by hook or by crook. They have  scant respect in democracy. If  they had, they would have refrained from precipitating political crisis and have waited for the fresh election. The crisis they triggered has landed the State in such a sorry plight that the State would have no money  to meet the  non-plan expenses after July,” he said.

He  said that the  people  are eager to know whether  BJP national president Amit Shah is coming to Haridwar to atone for the sins they had committed by attempting  to dislodge the Harish Rawat Government through foul means.

“Between  March 18, when political crisis had gripped the state and March 27-the day the  President’s rule was imposed-12 Central Cabinet Ministers visited to Uttarakhand. But not a single Minister made  any statement  bearing  on the  interest of  the State. Instead of helping the State, they rubbed salt in the wounds of the State,” the State Congress chief said.

Alleging that the NDA Government  has  been meting out step-brotherly treatment to the State, he  said  the budget being dumped was an instance of this.

“Would Amit shah please disclose what the status of uttarakhand’s budget is  IJ” he asked.

He said that tourist season  peaking, the State needs money for the maintenance of the existing infrastructure.

“The State is bound to help the people, including  the pilgrims, in case of disaster. But the stark reality is that   the state is not in position to meet the exigency. They are intentionally keeping  the  state budget hang fire. Despite repeated request from the state Chief Minister, they are sitting on it. Amit Shah should first meet the Prime Minister to inform him of the crisis the state has been passing through   before visiting Haridwar,” Upadhyay said.

Expressing concern over  a newly inducted BJP leader  releasing a statement at a party meeting, saying that they would repeat Dadari in Uttarakhand, the state Congress chief that his party would  not allow  such things. “We would  hit the ground in full force if BJP  ventures to implement its diabolical plan,” he said.
