Congress leader Rajkumar has criticised the state government for ignoring the slum dwellers and not providing them ownership rights. Interacting with the media persons at the state party office here on Wednesday, he said that the Congress party brought a law for regularisation of the slums in the State.
Rajkumar claimed that the congress regime made a provision of Rs 400 Crore for beautification of the slums.
He said that the BJP on coming to power brought all the social welfare schemes initiated by the Congress to a standstill. “Instead of providing ownership rights for the slum dwellers, BJP brought an ordinance of three years for slums which is irrelevant.
The law enacted by the congress has been put into back-burner by BJP. In the regime of Congress former Chief Minister Harish Rawat gave papers of ownerships to 40 residents of slums on October 2, 2016,’’ he said.
