BJP Govt shielding Baba Ramdev: Cong

The Uttarakhand unit of Congress party has accused the Narendra Modi led union Government and the BJP Government of Uttarakhand of showing undue generosity over Baba Ramdev and allowing him to loot people.

The party has also questioned the Uttarakhand Government for registering false cases on the Congress leaders for raising the issues of public interest. Interacting with the media at Rajiv Bhawan here on Sunday, the Vice President of Uttarakhand unit of the party, Surya Kant Dhasmana said that both Narendra Modi and Trivendra Singh Rawat Governments are shielding Ramdev who is making false claim that he has developed a medicine for Covid-19.

He said that in  a circular issued on April 1, 2020, the AYUSH department of the Union Government had imposed a complete ban on any person or company for advertising medicine for Covid-19 by citing provisions of National Disaster Management Act 2005 and had termed it as cognizable offense under section 33 P of Drugs and Cosmetics act of 1940.

Dhasmana said that Ramdev, Balkrishna and others held a press conference recently where the social distancing norms were blatantly violated and claimed that Patanjali has made a medicine of Covid-19.

Ramdev even announced the start of sale of the medicine. The Congress leader said that even after a week of this press conference, no case has yet been registered against Ramdev and the government has not yet officially rejected the claim.

He said that the both Union and state government should take legal action against Baba Ramdev under relevant sections without any further delay.
