BJP national general secretary Vijay Vargees said he was visiting Uttarakhand to galvanise the party right from the booth levels to ensure that it wins the upcoming election. “I am here as per instruction of the party president to take stock of the organisational preparedness for the election. This is a routine process as the BJP general secretaries are supposed to visit three States. I have interacted with the booth level and district level workers as well as the State level committee members,” he said.
“Unless the booth level workers are adequately motivated, the party stands no chance of winning an election. All the workers and the leaders are being taken on board. Besides, I talked to the BJP MlAs on the concluding day of the tour,” he said.
Vargees stressed on the party being strengthened from within to take the electoral challenge. “A strong party is an imperative too to provide a stable Government,” he said.
He also claimed that BJP had turned the largest party in the world, given its membership strength shooting up to 11 crore. “Now, the party has decided to bring the new members to work at the booth levels and the party programmes. We are acting on the party president’s instruction to hold at least six programmes at the booth levels in a year to ensure that the members develop a deep sense of belonging,” he said.
