After flagging off dozens of four and two wheelers for the collection of construction materials for the proposed statue of unity, BJP State chief Tirath Singh Rawat has cornered the Congress-led State Government for its callous approach for not redressing the grievances of those villagers, who faced the brunt of natural calamities.

Rawat said that the party activists will gather construction materials such as sand, clay and used farming iron materials for the construction of statue of unity. He also said that contribution from the every section of the society would be ensured while constructing the proposed statue of unity in Gujarat. After claiming that proposed statue would be the tallest among all statues in the world, Rawat said that this statue would be build to unite every section of the society.

Rawat told that statue of unity is an iconic 182 meters tall statue and is a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who is also better known as Iron Man of India. The statue would be built at the Sadhu-Bet Island, approximately 3.5kms south of Sardar Sarovar Dam at Kevadia in the Narmada district of Gujarat.

He added that additional facilities would also be constructed keeping in mind the public, therefore a memorial garden, bridge connecting Sadhu Island with the mainland, memorial, visitors centre, parking and transport site at Kevadia for busses to statue, hotel and convention centr etc adjacent to the statue sitewould be build.

later, after expressing concern over the callous approach of the Congress led State Government towards the villagers who faced the brunt of the natural calamities, Rawat said that the State Government is yet to take more effective steps for providing relief materials in the disaster affected areas of the State.

“It is a matter of grim concern, despite the fact that more than six months have been passed since the natural calamities struck Uttarakhand, all those villagers who are living in the higher parts of the State are still waiting for the Government assistance,” he lamented, adding that the basic amenities like road, potable water, medical and health facilities are worst in the disaster affected areas of the State.
