The BJP State unit has lodged police complaint against the unidentified people who had allegedly circulated a list of 32 candidates bearing signature of BJP’s president Amit Shah before the Dehradun senior superintendent of police on Thursday.
The complaint is supposed to be a warning that they would no longer brook such pranks on the part of a section of the social media, engaged in such hostile activities, said a senior State BJP leader.
Political analysts say that BJP which has stormed to power at the Centre by using social media as tools seems to be running upset with a section of such media now playing a malicious game against the party in the run-up to the crucial State elections.
Coincidentally, the fake list was circulated on the day the party officially closed the State BJP media whatsapp group and launched whatsapp broadcast group to disseminate news feed to the media.
A few days ago, somebody had circulated a list of 52 BJP candidates and BJP leaders had to call a Press conference to deny it. Alarmed over their names figuring nowhere in the circulated list, many ticket seekers made frantic calls at the numbers of their political mentors.
On condition of anonymity, a BJP leader said that Congress- hired poll strategist Prashant Kishor might have been behind the circulation of the spurious list to misguide the BJP leaders and the cadres.
On the top of things, another fake list was circulated on Wednesday, containing names of 32 BJP candidates written on the letter head of BJP’s national president Amit Shah, sending those whose names were missing in a tizzy.
The party having wound up their whatsapp group which facilitates a two-way communication and introduced one- way whatsapp broadcast group, the people can approach BJP leaders individually. However, a communication gap may arise and with election inching closer, any kind of communication gap might dent into the party’s poll strategy, said an observer.
