The BJP in Uttarakhand attempting to damage or topple Chief Minister Harish Rawat since March 2016, had to face another embarrassment in the gap of one month.
First embarrassment was felt on May 10 when the CM had defeated the BJP in Vidhan Sabha floor test after 44 days of President’s rule in the State. Observers question why the BJP, which had defeated Congress candidates in all five lok Sabha seats during general election-2014, is losing one attempt after another against Rawat.
Political analyst said that Rawat has apt replies to gimmicks of BJP leaders. For instance when President’s rule was imposed then Rawat started road shows to complain to the public about being targeted by the BJP high command and Central Government. When the sting CD was released then he edited the good chunk of CD and started showing the part in which he was saying that neither he nor his party high command have money to buy MlA to end the crisis. Meanwhile BJP leaders were making plan only to show entire CD through projector in public places.
Does BJP lack good strategists or is it intentionally making CM Rawat in to a hero day by dayIJ Political analyst said that by imposing President rule between March 27- May 11, BJP has given political mileage to CM Rawat.
By fielding BJP supported independent candidate against Pradeep Tamta, despite knowing the fact that they don’t have magic figure. With second consecutive loss party cadre is disappointed and they have started believing that BJP does not have a person to match CM Rawat.
Although Garhwal MP and Ex-CM Maj Gen Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri can give sleepless night to the CM Rawat, he is missing in all political dramas since March 18 to June 9 when union minister of state for petroleum Dharmendra Pradhan organised distribution of free lPG cylinder among BPl families in Srinagar, which is part of Garhwal lok Sabha constituency.
If BJP fails to address CM Rawat substitute within time then BJP may witness exodus like what happened in Congress where 10 sitting MlAs left congress and joined BJP despite knowing the fact that they would lose their membership under anti defection law, then upcoming assembly election would be tough for BJP because it is known to everyone that there is severe leadership crisis in the state BJP.
On condition of anonymity a senior leader said that State BJP president and leader of opposition Ajay Bhatt seems wrong decision of party high command. Bhatt has failed to give tough fight to CM Rawat so there are murmurings questioning the possibility of Rawat winning the confidence of Kumaon BJP leaders.
The leader further said that if such unsuccessful strategy is being made by the party high command then it is major loss to the State leaders. As we know that if party forms Government then state leaders get chance to serve the State under the guidance of party high command so it is state leaders’ loss.
CM Rawat, with whom favour party leaders are chanting slogan that “Harish nahi ye Anadhi hai” is getting ascertained by last two consecutive victories of Harish Rawat. Political analyst said that as Harish Rawat has forced their party high command to give him free hand since his inception as chief minister of Uttarakand. Due to this most of the senior party leaders like Satpal Maharaj and Vijay Bahuguna, who may give knee jerk to him, have left Congress and have given free canvass where Rawat can colour as per his wish. Even BJP leaders belong to Kumaon could not find solution to counter Harish Rawat. Although they said that CBI may lodge FIR shortly but political analyst said that if CBI arrests him then Rawat would eat major portion of Assembly seats to form more comfortable Government than now.
