BJP demands White Paper on scam

Turning pro-active on the embezzlement of money by officials during the 2013 disaster relief operations that has put the State  Government in the dock, the Opposition BJP has demanded the State Government publish a White Paper on the scam.

The Chief Minister should quit in case  he fails to share the details of  the expenses incurred by the unscrupulous officials making  a feast of the  massive tragedy and also the details  of the funds that came to the State in the aftermath of the calamity, the party said. The party also reiterated its demand for a  CBI probe into the raging controversy, given the  magnitude  of the alleged  loot.

As part of the stir, the saffron party’s youth affiliate would gherao the Chief Minister at his residence on June 10.  Informing this, the state BJP president, Teerath Singh Rawat said his party would take the matter to the court of the people in each of the State’s Assembly constituencies. “The State Government seems hell-bent on suppressing things by stonewalling the CBI probe demand. We would not take things lying down with the whistle blower SIC Sharma receiving threatening calls for his guts to help the skeletons tumbling out of the cupboards,” the BJP leader said.

Training his gun on the CM for his alleged effort to make the issue die down through dilatory tactic, he said entrusting the chief secretary with the responsibility of conducting the probe is part of the diabolical game to water down the emotive issue.

Taking strong exception to the CM making light of the matter, the BJP leader said it is unbecoming of the CM to defend the officers, saying that gorging on chicken was not wrong.

Teerath said BJP will demonstrate outside the CM's residence on June 10 to demand a CBI probe into the alleged scam.

“The BJP workers will visit different constituencies in the state this week to make the people aware of the   scam,” he said.

"We will tell them how the officials were busy savouring chicken on funds meant for relief of the deluge-hit people. This was when lakhs were starving with no roof over their  heads. This is a macabre scam involving the monumental tragedy of the state,” he asserted.
