The anomalies and issues that were seen in the recent ‘Khali returns’ wrestling entertainment show held in the State Capital recently have continued in the political segment and public sphere. While the BJP leaders have accused Chief Minister Harish Rawat of not maintaining the honour of the nation and its people, the Congress has responded strongly.

Additionally, a local youth who has also demanded action on his police complaint regarding ‘racist’ remarks made by one of the foreign wrestlers participating in the show.

Responding strongly to statements made by BJP leaders regarding Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat, the chief minister’s media in-charge Surendra Kumar alleged that “all are being viewed as anti-nationals” by the BJP leaders who had not respected the constitution and parliamentary decorum.

He stated, “The opposition leaders are displaying lack of understanding about the spirit of sports and with the BJP leaders not having issues to raise, irresponsible comments are being made targeting the Chief Minister. The BJP is already fearing a defeat in the 2017 Vidhan Sabha elections which is the reason for BJP leaders make such statements,” opined the CM’s media in charge.

Meanwhile, Harrawala area resident Siddharth Aggarwal addressed the media in Dehradun on Wednesday complaining about the police not taking any action on a complaint he had lodged against foreign wrestler Brody Steel who had allegedly made racist comments on Indians while interacting with the media at the chief minister’s residence.

He said that he was hurt on reading newspaper reports about the foreign wrestler making derogatory statements on India and Indians following which Aggarwal had submitted a complaint in the office of the Dehradun senior superintendent of police. The authorities should take action in the case wherein the foreign wrestler had purportedly called Indians “dark on the outside and inside”.
