While the BJP in Uttarakhand continues to level various allegations against the Congress-led State Government, the Congress has on its part continued its blame game against the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre.
With an eye on the Vidhan Sabha elections slated to be held in 2017, Chief Minister Harish Rawat and Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay will launch a series of public meets in the State’s 70 Assembly constituencies from Udham Singh Nagar district on February 10 and 11. Senior party leaders Rajendra Shah and Vijay Saraswat have been deputed to supervise the preparations for the series of public ‘hearings’ and joint tour by the CM and PCC chief.
Since his election to the post of BJP State president earlier this year, Ajay Bhatt has visited various parts of the State to address party workers and general public with the focus being on issues like the alleged scams and other negative aspects of the Congress-led State Government’s term in office.
The Congress too has already started organisational activities within the party and in the public sphere with an aim to consolidate its position for the Vidhan Sabha elections slated to be held in 2017.
Through public meets and demonstrations, the Congress is focusing on purported achievements and the challenges being faced by the State Government due to alterations made by the BJP-led NDA government at the centre in the Central funding pattern and allocation for Uttarakhand.
The Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesman Mathuradatt Joshi informed that Chief Minister Harish Rawat and PCC chief Kishore Upadhyay will address public gatherings while jointly touring the various Vidhan Sabha constituencies in the Udham Singh Nagar district on February 10 and 11.
Rawat and Upadhyay will address public gatherings and listen to public grievances in the Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Jaspur, Kashipur, Bazpur, Tanakpur, Khatima, Kiccha, Sitarganj and Nanakmatta during their joint tour of the district.
The PCC has appointed senior party leaders Rajendra Shah and Vijay Saraswat as observers for this campaign. Upadhyay has directed the duo to establish coordination with senior leaders of various Congress committees and party workers in the assembly constituencies to make the joint tour programme a success.
The party spokesman said the CM had earlier announced he would be touring all the 70 assembly constituencies of the state. The joint tour of the CM and PCC chief in Udham Singh Nagar district is the start of this programme, said Joshi.
