On the BJP’s claim to return to power in 2017 Assembly election under its new steward Ajay Bhatt, Chief Minister Harish Rawat’s media in-charge Surendra Kumar said on Friday that the BJP had been reduced to a running machine always conjuring up lies from nowhere.
“They seem to be having an illusion that they are set to come back to power. But the hard reality is that they would have to remain in the Opposition even after the 2017 election. They had better reconcile themselves to the reality, hard though it is for them,” he said.
Taking a swipe at the State BJP president Ajay Bhatt, Kumar said the saffron party had got embroiled in a theft case that had occurred at the State BJP headquarters with Bhatt being the central figure. “The amount stolen was the ill-gotten one, received from the liquor syndicate. The sad fact is that the person involved in it has inducted into Bhatt’s new team. It makes it clear that BJP which is inclined to raise hammer and tongs on scams and corruption is itself neck- deep in the same. Paying lip service to probity cannot absolve the party of the blemish of corruption,” he said.
Referring to the matter of Rajnish Berthwal and Vijay Singh remaining stuck in Ghana and Japan respectively along with others, Kumar asked Bhatt to write to the Union external affairs minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj on the matter.
“He has been spewing venom against the Uttarakhand Government. However, it would be better if he takes the initiative with the Centre to have the stuck-up released. If he does the people of the State would be grateful to him,” Kumar said.
He further said that BJP riven with inner schism is seeking to rejuvenate itself by resorting to acid — dripping attacks which are bereft of substances. “They must appreciate things the present Stat Government under Chief Minister Harish Rawat has been doing to ameliorate the suffering of the people in distress,” he said.
Taking the sugarcane supporting prices as an instance, he said that the Uttarkahand government has been still paying prices much higher than what the Uttar Pradesh Government has been paying. “Has BJP the guts to admit thisIJ Besides, the CM has asked the officials to do survey about the regions that have not experienced the winter rain this season, deemed beneficial for agriculture and horticulture. The officials have been asked to make a detailed report about the loss the State has incurred in terms of agriculture and horticulture due to the scanty winter rain,” Kumar said.
