The Bharatiya Janata Party candidate, Chandra Pant, filed her nomination for the Pithoragarh Assembly by-election on Wednesday. The wife of late Cabinet Minister and Pithoragarh MLA Prakash Pant was accompanied by MP, Ajay Tamta and members of the Pant family while filing her nomination. Meanwhile, the party also announced its star campaigners for the Pithoragarh by-election.
Earlier, the party workers and supporters took out a rally for filing her nomination. MP Ajay Tamta, BJP State general secretary Rajendra Bhandari, party vice president Kedar Joshi, former BJP State president Bishan Singh Chufal and others were part of this rally.
It is pertinent to mention here that the BJP has expressed confidence in its candidate’s chances of winning the by-election. Though she worked as a school teacher and lacks direct experience in administration, the clean image of her late husband and the works done by him before his untimely death in June this year are expected to garner strong public support for the BJP candidate. Meanwhile, the BJP State president and MP Ajay Bhatt released the list of the party’s star campaigners for the by-election. The 40 star campaigners include the party national working president JP Nadda, vice president Shyam Jaju, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath, national general secretary BL Santosh, MP Ajay Bhatt, Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Union Minister Smriti Irani, Union Ministers of State, VK Singh, Santosh Gangwar and various Cabinet Ministers of the State
