With the BJP Government having settled itself in Uttarakhand following the landslide victory, the party top brass is now engaged in keeping the triumphant tempo alive till the lok Sabha election-2019. With this objective in view, the party’s national leadership has asked the Ministers and MlAs to stay put at least for 15 days at the booths to ensure a repeat victory for the party in all the five lok Sabha constituencies of the State.
Making things clear, BJP national assistant organising secretary Shiv Prakash while addressing BJP legislature party and the State BJP office bearers at the State BJP headquarters on Wednesday asked them to plunge into action without delay. The instruction from the top level has come a time when some of the party MlAs aside from the cadre force are sulking over the newly inducted leaders who were in the Congress having been given important ministerial posts while keeping some of the old horses longing to see their ways in the Ministry at bay.
The party insiders said that Shiv Prakash had been sent to Dehradun to gauge the mood of the legislators supposedly sulking. Besides, the national level leader is supposed to have been entrusted with the task of assessing things regarding the expansion of the Ministry with two berths remaining vacant.
Prakash is learnt to have told the party leaders to reach out to the poorest of the poor in tune with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s declaration of the birth centenary year of Pt Deen Dayal Upadhaya as the year meant for the welfare year of the poor.
Besides, the party intent on expanding their bases across the country with eyes fixed on the crucial 2019 general election, Shiv Prakash is learnt to have tried to galvanize the cadre force and the senior party functionaries, including Ministers, exhorting them to embark on mass contact exercises to help the party strike its roots even deeper in the State’s soil. Notably, three lakh party workers, including BJP national president Amit Shah, ministers, MPs and MlAs, would also hit the ground for at least a fortnight while visiting the booths deemed weak for the party in
electoral terms.
State BJP organising general secretary Naresh Bansal said that the party’s stress on strengthening the bases at the booth levels was justified, given the fact that the booths decide the fate of the parties contesting elections. “With this fact in view, we would visit and revisit the booths to deepen our roots,” he said.
He further stressed on the momentum being kept alive all the year round, saying that an election could hardly be won with efforts being made for 15 or 20 days.
“We do not believe in short cuts-gimmicks and cheap luring ploys. We are instead for educating the people in the right spirit while focusing on our strength and the opposition’s weakness,” he said.
