Following cancellation of nomination paper of its candidate Jasoda Rana for the post of chairman of Badkot municipal council, BJP has lent its support to the independent candidate Krishna Rana. The party leadership decided to back the independent candidate after the petition of its candidate Jasoda Rana, challenging the decision of State Election Commission, was quashed by the Uttarakhand High Court.
The State Election Commission had cancelled the nomination of Jasoda Rana after her name was found in the voters’ list at two places.
