BJP asks Guv to act against PWD officials

Bharatiya Janata Party workers have appealed the State Governor to direct stern action against officials concerned of the Public Works Department (PWD) Narendranagar, for allegedly giving out road works to contractors without following the tender process in violation of the law.

At a meeting of BJP workers held at Naughar in Narendranagar, the party members strongly criticised the PWD for allegedly conducting construction work without following the due procedure as per the law. Addressing a memorandum to the State governor KK Paul, the party workers alleged that the department had blatantly violated regulations by getting road cutting work done at various places without issuing public notice regarding the same.

Presiding over the meeting, the BJP state council member Bhaskar Gairola alleged that the department had acted under the pressure of the local MlA with the ulterior motive of providing benefit to a few people by getting the roads dug up at various places without issuing any public information. Accusing the department of illegal action, Gairola further said that setting up such an improper trend in the mountainous regions does not bode well for the interests of the State. With the imposition of president’s rule in the state, the payment to contractors for the work done has also been stalled, he added.
