Slamming the Uttarakhand Government for its alleged attempt to hush up the 2013-disaster scam, the State BJP leadership alleged that the report submitted by the Chief Secretary N Ravi Shankar was part of a deal between the State Government and the top bureaucrat of the State.
“A plum posting is awaiting the CS following his retirement. Such a give and take, particularly on an issue as emotive and explosive as the disaster scam amounts to a monumental crime,” said a senior State BJP leader Ravindra Jugrat in a press release issued on Monday by the principal Opposition party of the State.
He further said he had written to the Governor and the Chief Minister of the State not to give nomination in the State Information Commission in view of the State’s worsening economic condition. Besides, the nomination must be made on the basis of seniority, the BJP leader stressed.
Notably, there is a buzz in the administrative circles here that the present chief secretary N Ravi Shankar who is slated to retire on 31 July would be ‘rehabilitated’ by the State Government as the State Information Commissioner.
