The national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party Gaurav Bhatia said that the proposal of setting up Shariyat Courts in all the districts of the country as mooted by the All India Muslim Personal law Board (AIMPlB) is unacceptable to his party. He said this while addressing the newspersons at the State party headquarters here on Saturday. Bhatia who is himself a lawyer practising at the Supreme Court questioned the timing of the AIMPlB proposal and said it must be seen against the backdrop of the Nikah Halala  now pending before the apex court. “It appears to be aimed at derailing the ongoing proceedings at the SC,” he said.

He categorically said that his party is for according precedence of the nation’s laws  over the customs and traditions peculiar to sects and religions. launching a scathing attack on the Congress for pursuing the politics of appeasement, the BJP leader said that the Opposition party’s electoral interest-driven appeasement policy stands in sharp contrast to the Narendra Modi Government’s firm resolve to pursue the principle of ‘appeasement of none and empowerment of all’.

listing the achievements of the Narendra Modi Government, the BJP’s national spokesperson said that it has done more in the past 48 months than the work done during 48 years of the Congress rule. He said that India’s GDP has grown at 7.4 percent while the Forex reserves at 420 Million dollars are at all time high. “The inflation is under check at 3 to 4 percent which is less than 11 percent during the Congress regime,” he said.

Bhatia, further, said that 3.80 crore cooking gas connections have been provided to the poor women under Ujjwala scheme which has helped in improving their health. Besides, the Union Government has brought about an ordinance of death penalty for the rapists of the children and appreciated the Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s recent move to award capital punishment for the rapists of the minor girls.

Bhatia claimed that more than 12 crore employments have been generated under Mudra scheme. He also hailed the Jan Dhan scheme and said that it ensured  banking access being provided to 32 crore people. It has resulted in the financial inclusion of the poor, he said.

The BJP spokesperson, further, said that  power connections have been provided to all 18000 villages which remains bereft of electricity. He also stressed that opening of bank accounts and linking them with Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme has put a rein on corruption in the system.

He also heaped praise on the Trivendra Singh Rawat government, saying that it has been busy fulfilling the developmental pledge taken by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The State is now progressing in every  field,” he said, adding that the CM’s uncompromising stand 'Zero Tolerance on corruption' is worthy of appreciation. “Uttarakhand would become the best among the States in terms of growth and development soon,” Bhatia averred.
