Accusing district police of failing to check crimes in the State capital, hundreds of BJP activists led by its Mahanagar president Neelam Sahgal gheraoed the SSP office on Tuesday. Sahgal accused the Congress- led State Government of having miserably failed to control crimes like loot and dacoity going on unimpeded in the state capital. later, she submitted a memorandum to the SP City Ajay Singh on behalf of the party.

Dozens of BJP workers reached the SSP office and shouted anti-police/ administration slogans. Sahgal said that crime cases are increasing in the city for the past many days, but police have failed to check them. Mounting number of cases of armed burglary and loot on daily basis has triggered panic among the residents. Police are clueless about the identity of the offenders in the armed burglary case that had resulted in the death of a 23- year- old person and injury to four persons from the same family in Balawala area on September 10. Following the incident, residents are being compelled to spend sleepless nights with fear of being robbed haunting them.

BJP members will intensify the stir if police fail to checkmate crimes in the state capital promptly. Among those present on the occasion were Dhamendra Gupta, Sachin Gairola, Atul Sharma and Satish Kumar.
