Everyone has been welcomed to the Char Dham shrines for centuries. The Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi too is also welcomed to visit Kedarnath but the VVIP arrival should not cause inconvenience to the devotees of lord Kedarnath on the day of its reopening to the public, said leader of the Opposition Ajay Bhatt. Talking to The Pioneer, Bhatt accused the Congress of politicising pilgrimage stating that any party in power would have been bound to facilitate the repair and reconstruction executed after the 2013 disaster.
“The Congress vice-president is welcomed to visit Kedarnath but his arrival should not cause inconvenience to the devotees on such an important occasion. The Congress is using such means to divert attention of the public from the anomalies orchestrated in post-disaster works especially those related to the Char Dham Yatra”, Bhatt said. Following our inspection of the Yatra routes the anomalies that we found have been cited in a report we submitted to the Governor recently. We had also demanded a CBI inquiry into anomalies in post-disaster reconstruction works, he added.
