The controversial ‘Hua to Hua’ (whatever happened has happened) statement of senior Congress leader, Sam Pitroda made in context of Anti Sikh riots of 1984 had its echo in Uttarakhand on Saturday.

On the day, the BJP and the Sikh organisations held vehement protests in many parts of the State.

In the provisional State capital, Dehradun, the BJP workers led by Mahanagar President Vinay Goyal assembled at the Gandhi Park and held a massive demonstration. Speaking on the occasion, Goyal said that the statement of Pitroda who is the guru of Congress president, Rahul Gandhi has rubbed salts on the wounds of the anti Sikh riots of 1984.

He said that the remark of Pitroda has not only hurt the members of Sikh community in the country but also in the whole world. Goyal said that all those involved in the riots should be given strict sentences. In another demonstration, laarge number of people led by the State spokesperson of the state BJP, Baljeet Soni assembled near the Panchayati Mandir at busy Darshanlal Chowk and held a vehement protest.

Soni said that the statement of Pitroda proves that the Congress was not only responsible for the Anti Sikh riots but also its leaders have no repentance for one of the most heinous crimes done against humanity.

The members of the Rashtriya Swabhimani Punjabi Morcha also organised a meeting on the day. In the meeting, the members demanded that Congress president Rahul Gandhi should render an unconditional apology for the statement made by his guru, Pitroda.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders have termed the protest by the BJP workers on the statement of Sam Pitroda as the one done to divert attention from real issues.

The Spokesperson of the state unit of the Congress party, Garima Dasauni said that the 1984 anti Sikh riots were very unfortunate and everyone condemns them.

She however added that BJP is raking up the issue for the electoral gains and is trying to divert attention from real issue.

Dasauni claimed that people have understood the plan of BJP and the party is on its way out of power.
