'Biometric system to be installed at collectorate'

Published on:

Pauri district magistrate Sushil Kumar said on Monday that the biometric system would be installed at the collectorate aside from all  the tehsil  headquarters and the block headquarters in the district soon to ensure that the officers and the employees turn up and leave their respective offices at the time fixed for arrival and departure. “We are sure that the installation of the biometric system at the important offices of the district would go a long way in improving the work culture. The system once installed would help us track things and take actions if required,” he said.

Notably, the earlier instruction of the DM regarding the timely arrival and departure of the officers and the employees had failed to have any effect with most of them. The continuing trend of the officers and the employees bunking duties has made the installation of the biometric system of attendance a must, say sources privy to the DM.

It is also learnt that the DM has asked the heads of all the departments to ensure the timely attendance of the staffers.  He suggested action against those found absent in their offices during the duty hours without taking leave beforehand.

However, observers say that despite biometric system of attendance having been installed at Vikas Bhawan and the district hospital in Pauri, some of the employees continue to be absent from their offices during the duty hours.

“Things in Vikas Bhawan have hardly changed even after the biometric system has been installed despite the chief development officer Vijay Jogdande having instructed all  the department officers and employees to mark their arrival and departure  in the CDO office.

The same is the scene in the district hospital with some doctors and staffers  still  coming late despite the biometric system being installed to the suffering of the patients and their near ones,” says an observer.
