In synch with the Digital India Programme of the Union Government, the Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) of the State are all set to adopt bio-metric system of attendance for their staff members.  In a recent order the governing body of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) had ordered 1100 KV of the country to install bio-metric machines to mark attendance of teachers and other staff members. The letter which was dispatched by the central office of KVS to regional offices mandates bio-metric attendance system under the ‘Digital India programme’. Under the bio-metric system of KVS the staff members would have to register with National Information Centre (NIC) and for this they would be required to provide their Aadhaar number, personal details and photograph. After that the fingerprint of the employee would be authenticated online and matched with his/her Aadhaar number. The connectivity of bio- metric systems would be maintained through WIFI and GPRS.
The Deputy Director of Uttarakhand regional office of KVS, SS Chauhan said the attendance system would be installed in all 47 schools of the region. He said the attendance system would be operated from the NIC through dedicated secure connectivity between NIC and Aadhaar data. He said that headquarters of KVS and regional officers would directly monitor the attendance of the staff members after the installation of the system.
The Principal of KV, ONGC, DS Negi said his school had started the process of instalment of the bio-metric system and added all the employees had been asked to ensure that they had their Aadhar numbers ready. Negi claimed the system would go a long way in ensuring punctuality of teachers and staff members.
