Residents of the Bindukhatta tired of regular power cuts and other anomalies in the power supply staged a protest at the electricity sub divisional office. The villagers have warned that they would be forced to undertake intense agitation if the authorities fail to resolve this problem soon.

Reaching the power sub divisional office here, the villagers complained that inspite of the rising mercury level, the power department was carrying out regular unscheduled power cuts which was causing major inconvenience to the public in the city area and dozens of neighbouring rural areas. They further alleged that inspite of complaints being made to the department regularly the officials had continued to maintain an apathetic attitude towards this problem. The accused the department officials of being corrupt, they pointed out that there were numerous illegal electricity connections in the area which were responsible for overloading the power supply network which is causing frequent unscheduled power cuts in the urban and rural areas. Demanding that action be taken against such anomalies to facilitate regular power supply, the protesting locals warned that they would initiate intensive agitation in the near future if the power department officials remained apathetic to the problem.
