The members of Jewellers’ Association of Uttaranchal (JAU) took out bike rally in the city on Tuesday against the Centre slapping 1 per cent excise duty on the non-silver ornaments. later, they met IG Sanjay Gunjyal and submitted a memorandum, highlighting police’s action on the jewellers during a protest rally on Monday.
JAU vice -president Sunil Masson said that they have been protesting for the past 21 days with the Centre remaining unmoved. The association has decided to carry out road blockage during day while would stop the Indian rails on March 28 after 5 pm in support of their demands, he added.
