In stark contrast to the State secretariat that looked deserted, surging crowds were witnessed in different markets of Dehraudun and other cities on the first phase of Unlock 1. One reason for increase in the crowds on the roads was the fact that large number of offices also opened on the day. The social distancing norms were thrown into air in the crowded markets near Clock tower and other areas. The shops selling computers and mobiles witnessed big crowds and the shopkeepers reported good business. The state police registered 13 cases for violation of lockdown on Monday. The director general (DG) law and order, Ashok Kumar said that people should remain alert and follow the rules of lockdown. He said that those who are in home quarantine should strictly follow the orders and should not venture out.
