Alleging harassment by the college authorities the students of the Baba Farid Institute of Technology (BIFT) knocked at the door of the State Human Rights Commission on Tuesday. The students of the BIFT assembled at the office of commission on the day and handed over relevant documents of the alleged harassment they are undergoing at the hands of the college management.
The former President of student’s union of DAV College, Paras Goyal who led the students said that many college authorities prevented some students from appearing in the semester examination even though these students had attended the classes and had deposited the requisite fee. He said that the entire year of many students is wasted by the dictatorial attitude of college authorities. The students alleged that their original documents are deposited in the college due to which they are not able to take admissions in other colleges. These students informed that when the harassed students ask the college to return their documents, they demand hefty fine in lieu of returning these documents.
In the application to the Chairman State Human Rights Commission, the students have raised a demand of punitive action against the Sudhowala based college so that it refrains from the exploitation of students in future.
