Bid to boost visit to Joshimath shrines

Published on:

In order to encourage pilgrimage to the Bhavishya Kedar and Bhavishya Badri shrines in the Joshimath area the locals took out a procession from the Bhavishya Kedar shrine to Bhavishya Badri temple on the weekend. The locals said that since the pilgrimage to Badrinath and Kedarnath shrines has not resumed, devotees should be encouraged to visit the two Bhavishya shrines in Joshimath.

According to the scriptures, when the right wrist of lord Narsinh’s idol at the Narsinh temple in Joshimath breaks, the Nar and Narayan mountains will come together and block the road to Badrinath. Then, devotees will be able to worship lord Narayan at the Bhavishya Badri shrine situated on the Joshimath-Malari route.

Saldhar is located about 25 km from Joshimath and six kms from here is Subhai village from where a one km walk through jungle leads one to the Bhavishya Badri shrine. The locals have built a small shrine around the Swayambhu idol of lord Badrinath here. The local villagers visit this shrine during all festive occasions but this temple is not known much among the people of the nation and abroad who visit Uttarakhand for the Char Dham Yatra. To publicise this shrine, the locals first prayed at the Bhavishya Kedar shrine in Joshimath and undertook a procession to the Bhavishya Badri temple. The locals said that these two shrines should also be popularised by the authorities so the devotees can worship the lord in these important shrines.
