Five days have passed after hardened gangster Amit Malik alias Bhura escaped from the police custody while being taken to court for a hearing in Baghpat, Uttarakhand police are still wandering in the wilderness in quest of clues. Moreover, no headway has been made regarding the broad daylight murder of the former students’ union president of Rudrapur Degree College, Pratap Singh Bisht at Shakti Farm, Udham Singh Nagar on December 13.
DGP BS Sidhu said that in connection with the December 15 escape of the gangster Amit Malik alias Bhura from the police custody in Baghpat, he would go to Delhi himself to meet Delhi Special Commissioner of Police (special branch) SN Srivastava and senior police officers of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. All the developments related to the investigation by the teams would be discussed in details and further course of action will be taken to apprehend the accused, he added.
However, police got some crucial information from different sources and teams are working in conjunction with Uttar Pradesh and Delhi police
to crack the case at the earliest. About 25 teams, including Special Operation Group, Special Task Force and Cyber Cell, are working on special information as well as direction being given by senior officers to apprehend the accused and recover the weapons looted from the police.
DGP Sidhu said, “Teams are working on several angles. They have got some leads too. We cannot disclose much right now. Uttarakhand police have been working in coordination with the teams like Special Task Force (STF) of UP and Delhi. Suffice it to say that we have got some crucial inputs which would help us crack the case soon.”
Identities of the persons whom Bhura was in touch with while masterminding the escape plan from his prison cell have already been established. Police had also recovered mobile phone, charger, battery and torn of maps of Baghpat from Jail. Some suspects are being questioned too.
Moreover, as regards the murder of the former students’ union president Bisht, he said that police got some leads and they are working on them diligently. He expressed hope that police would soon be able to apprehend the accused.
