Extending its march towards greater technological competence, a vendor’s meet on the theme ‘Quality and Delivery Issues in Manufacturing of Turbine Components’ was organised at BHEl Haridwar. The convention was organised by the turbine and defence department. It was inaugurated by executive director of BHEl Haridwar Prakash Chand. In his inaugural address, he enunciated the significant role of turbine component manufacturers in the successful journey of BHEl.

Addressing the convention session, Chand said that BHEl is committed to manufacturing supercritical turbines equipped with world class engineering and this has been made possible only with the continuous support of our turbine component manufacturers. He also asked the vendors to develop facilities to indigenise manufacturing of such components which are currently being procured from outside the country resulting in high cost, in line with our PM’s vision of “Make in India”.

Earlier, general manager (T&D) Biswajit Das welcomed the guests and said that the real challenge in any good design is the execution part where these component manufacturers play important roles. He further exhorted all stakeholders to keep in mind the need to sustain through these difficult times and shrinking margins, without compromising on quality and early delivery.

Presentations on technical and quality issues were made by BHEl executives followed by an interactive session with vendors like PCIl, ABB, SSET, GESTRA, Jindal Electronics and others. GM (T&D) summed up the issues raised by vendors and promised on behalf of BHEl management to take necessary measures to resolve them suitably. Various other GMs, senior officials of BHEl, representatives of many companies and departmental employees were present on the occasion.
