BHEl Haridwar claimed to have achieved another feat with the successful manufacturing and dispatch of one more indigenously manufactured 800 MW supercritical Turbo Generator. This Turbo Generator has been sent for Vijayawada Thermal Power Project of Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGENCO). ). M V V Satayanarayana, chief engineer (Training Institute & Construction) and Krupa Sagar, chief engineer (TPC) Vijayawada APGENCO formally dispatched the Turbo Generator. BHEl general manager (EM) A K Saha attributed the achievement to BHEl’s dedicated and skilled workforce. General manager (In-charge) of HEEP, Sanjay Gulati described it as a major step towards the PM-envisioned “Make in India” mission.
He said that the supercritical generator requires high level of precision and craftsmanship for its manufacture. He further said that this is the highest capacity generator being manufactured in India. This generator incorporates hollow steel conductors in place of copper conductors and generates electric power at 27 KV.
It is worth mentioning that the design, manufacture and testing work of this generator have been done completely in Haridwar unit.
