Bhatt thanks PM, Union Home Min, slams CM

Published on:

State BJP president and leader of the Opposition Ajay Bhatt has thanked the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister for providing central assistance immediate after disaster. However, at the same time, he slammed the State Chief Minister and other  Congress leaders, saying that  they have  formed  a habit  of  blaming the NDA  Government for  any ill the State  has been facing due to their  own Government’s bungling with things. “They should  have the modicum of  courtesy to thank the Centre  for the prompt assistance  it  has sent to the rain-ravaged people of the state,” Bhatt said.

Sounding worried  over the state of things with rains continuing incessantly, the BJP leader said that Uttarakhand has again come under the grip of disaster. “Realizing that  things are grim, both the  Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh have taken   a prompt  and  serious note of the people’s suffering. They did  not  lose a moment to  send rescue team. Such a gesture would go a long way in cementing ties between the Centre and the state,” he  said.

“What  is more,” he continued, “the  Centre   rushed  an additional NDRF team to Uttarakhand. Besides,  four NDRF teams have  been kept in reserve for an eventuality with things remaining highly  vulnerable.    They  are in  round the clock contact with the state government, posting themselves  with the latest developments from time to time,”  he  said.

Waxing  eloquent on the  ‘large- hearted NDA  regime  coming out of its  way  to help Uttarakhand facing crisis’,   Bhatt said  this was the second time when the  Centre came a long way  to help the  state out of the crisis it has faced. “Previously, when the forests of  the state were being torched in fire  the Centre came forward to have the blaze doused. Now, the Central team is in the thick of  rendering  help to the people of  the  rain- ravaged places  of the state,” he said.

Taking a dig at the CM and  other Congress leaders, Bhatt said that they should rid themselves of their narrow, sectarian outlook and  should  develop the habit of appreciating  any generous  gesture that comes from the NDA regime. “They are inclined to slam the Centre for every problem the state has been facing and, at the same time, they rush  to the same Centre, asking it to help it of the problem,” he said.

“By way of contrast, BJP is  a party which gets above petty politics when it  comes to relive the people’s sufferings. The BJP-led Centre has proved it amply and  would prove it  again and  again whenever things warrant them to shed politics and help the people,” the State BJP chief said.
