Uttarakhand against Corruption activists led by its leader Sanjay Bhatt took out a rally and protested at lansdowne Chowk, accusing the Central and State Governments of failing to check the rising pulse prices in the State.
Bhatt said that pulses are rarely being cooked in the kitchens of the common people because of its spiralling prices. Retail toor dal prices have shot up to Rs 200 per kg despite the government claiming that they have taken steps to boost supply and check prices. Urad too is being sold at prices as high as Rs 180 per kg. This is due to
wrong policies of both the Central and the state government, he alleged. “The middlemen had purchased pulses at Rs 50 per kg from the farmers but they are selling them for Rs 200 per kg in the retail market with connivance from the administration,” he said, adding that both Congress and BJP are allowing them to mint money at the expense of the common people with eyes fixed on the coming election.
The people of the state would teach lessons to both Congress and BJP in the coming Vidhan Sabha election, he warned.
Others present were Bhagwat Prasad Makwana, Vijay Kumar, Harish, Saurabh and Sidhartha.
