Bhatt: Govt claims a bunch of lies

Published on:

Coming  down heavily on the  Governor’s speech that enlisted the State Government’s achievements in several fields, the leader of the Opposition and State BJP president, Ajay Bhatt dismissed it as a bunch of lies. He said the  ground reality is diametrically  reverse  of the rosy picture  enshrined in the Governor’s speech. “The speech has called the bluff of waht Chief Minister Harish Rawat  has been rolling out. He stands exposed,” Bhatt  said.

Taking a dig at the State government for Gairsain- being projected as the State capital-remaining conspicuous by its absence in the  Governor’s speech, he said it meant that  all the speeches by the leaders of the ruling party supporting the emotive demand of Gairsain being made the State capital amount to cheap blusters.  “They have not cared to  introduce even a  single word on Gairsain,” Bhatt said.

“The  whole of  the government encamped during the Cabinet meeting held there. Foundation stone was laid for  the new Assembly building. Two Assembly sessions were held there,  the first in  June 2014 and the latter in November 2015, with much fanfare. But the end-result is a big zero. The  government has been indulging in double dealing to deceive the people,”  he said.

Bhatt further said that during the November Assembly session-2015, they had asked the treasury bench to clear their stance on the issue. “They kept mum. A large sum has  been spent to build  it as the future capital of  the State. But that  they have not included a word on it in the speech stands testimony to the fact that they are playing  with the sentiments  of  the people,” he  said.

Tearing further into the  ruling party, Bhatt  said the State government  has sought to appropriate credit for projects  sanctioned around four to five years ago. “This reveals the  low the ruling party has stooped to win cheap applause,”  the BJP leader said.
