State BJP media in-charge Dr Devendre Bhasin on Saturday rejected outright the media report that  the former CM and Garhwal MP Maj Gen Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri has  been kept  out  of the BJP state election committee (SEC) while averring that all four former CMs- Gen Khanduri, Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and VIjay Bahuguna- are members of the committee. He alleged that few persons are out to create bad blood within the party and also between the party and the media by   posting fabricated news in their official whats app group. “So we have decided to wind up the group in the next couple of days. We will introduce a broadcast group instead which would be used to disseminate information to the media,” he said.

He further said that the BJP national working committee being engrossed in a brain storming session to firm up the electoral strategy, the state   BJP president Ajay Bhatt had announced the formation of the state election committee (SEC) on Friday evening .

He also said that a few vernacular dailies while publishing the news had misrepresented facts to spawn confusion among the party workers and the people. “Such things are undesirable. Endowed with paramount responsibility, the media is expected to verify the veracity of such news thoroughly before they are published,” Bhasin said.

He reiterated that Gen Khanduri being a veteran party leader has been given an important place in the committee just after the state BJP president Ajay Bhatt.

“Besides, we are sad that a section of the social media and also media are running fake lists of the BJP candidates to confuse the party rank and file. I want to reiterate that the party is yet to firm up the candidates’ list.  And all speculations swirling in the media are baseless.  Once the list is prepared it would be made public in full presence of the media,” he said.

He further said that the state level committee   now  engaged in short-listing things, the BJP central parliamentary board would take the final call on the list at the appropriate time.
