Bhartiya Kisan Union stages protest against State Government

Members of Bhartiya Kisan Union(BKU) staged protest in the premises of SDM office on Monday, slamming the State Government for not waving off the crop loans of the farmers. They said that the State Government here should go for the crop loan waiver on the lines of the Uttar Pradesh Government which waived such loans up to Rs 1 lakh while acting on BJP’s pre-poll promise.

led by Garhwal Mandal president Sanjay Chaudhary who is associated with  BKU, a number of  farmers took part in the stir.

Speaking to The Pioneer, a union leader Ravi Chaudhary said that depriving the farmers of Uttarakhand of the loan waiver granted by Yogi Adityanath government  of Uttar Pradesh was an insult to the farming community of the state. “Trivendra Singh Rawat  government must explain why it cannot give the same breather to the farmers here which the government run by the same party in neighbouring UP has done,” he said.

Another farmer Jitendra said that the union members would serve a memorandum to the state CM regarding the same. “We have already submitted one request letter to SDM on Monday. We would meet the CM next week to demand the same,” said Jitendra.
