The accomplishment of annual power generation targets by the hydro power projects being undertaken by the Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam limited (UJVNl) is helping the State power department to meet with the daily power requirement of Uttarakhand.
Department officials claim that the power generation will improve in the near future once the snow starts melting in near future.
The latest figures compiled by the UJVNl clearly highlighted that the Khodri hydro power project generated 375.0435 million units of electricity against the target of 375 million units of electricity in the current financial year.
Officials told that timely maintenance and decrease in the down-time helped the department to achieve the target will before the due date.
According to them, proper planning helped the department to generate surplus electricity in the other hydro power projects also operating in the Garhwal and Kumaon division of the State despite the fact that hydro power projects also faced the brunt of the natural calamities in Uttarakhand in the month of June, last year.
In an exclusive interaction with The Pioneer, UJVNl, Managing Director, GP Patel said that the Renovation, Upgradation and Modernisation (RMU) has become the regular feature in the department in order to achieve the annual and monthly targets of power generation in the given time frame.
He told that employees of the department have been continuously working round the clock to have optimum power generation through hydro power projects.
Patel hoped that the power generation is likely to improve in the near future once the weather started improving. Patel told that instructions have been regularly given to the department officials for achieving the target of power generation in order to bridge the gap between the demand and supply of electricity in the State.
