Believe in Student Social Responsbility: Management Gurus

Published on:

Management gurus and social workers have decided during a gathering here on Tuesday to help one Government-run school situated in a remote area of the district  to make it a model school endowed with the required infrastructure.

They said that the gathering was inspired by the motto   “Goodness Must Unite” and their first focus would be on improving the educational scenario in the State.

Vibhuti Rajyalaxmi Jandev, one of the attendees,  said that they would initially work on one agenda - education.  “later we would take up other sectors like health and sanitation. We would train our focus on education presently as the Govt-run schools are in   a shambles with teachers’ crunch haunting every such school,” he added.

Dean of faculty of management studies Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalay, Pankaj Madan said that the management introduced the concept of student social responsibility on the line of corporate social responsibility. “Under SSR,   over 250 students have volunteered to  work in the field of education,” he added.

Vageesh Paliwal, a management expert, presented some case studies detailing how  students have conducted ‘each one teach one’ programmes with good results.

Shiva Agarwal cited some examples of students of  a Govt school located at Tatwala in Haridwar being introduced to hi-tech computer laboratories recently.

Padma Shri awardee  Khalid Zaheer sounded concerned over spiraling  road accidents in the city while suggesting reflectors being placed at the  main crossings and Rohan Sehgal committed himself to taking  street children to schools while  Neha Malik pledged to conduct eye care awareness programmes among the students.
