The Federation of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)/ Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualified candidate has decided to restart its agitation at the education directorate from Monday. By late evening on Sunday the federation members had pitched their tent at education directorate located at Nanoorkheda area of the city.

The members of the federation took this decision in a meeting organised at Gandhi Park on Sunday. The State coordinator of the federation Suresh Dhyani said that the department should restart the process of recruitment of primary teachers as directed by the Uttarakhand High Court (HC) without any further delay.

The members of the federation were also unanimous on their demand that the department should initiate the recruitment drive in all the 3258 posts of primary teachers which are vacant. The media in-charge of the federation, Vivek Nainwal said that the members of the federation would be forced to start a massive statewide agitation if their demands are not accepted.

There are more than 30000 B.Ed / TET qualified candidates in the state. These candidates are anxious as this recruitment drive is their last chance to get appointed as primary teachers.

It is worth mentioning here that the education department was in process of giving appointments to 1200 B.Ed / TET candidates in the primary schools of the state when on May 13 the Uttarakhand High Court’s (HC) canceled the recruitment process. Acting on a petition of Almora resident, Harish Chandra asked the department to initiate a fresh recruitment drive in which the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) and TET level I qualified candidates are also allowed to participate.
