The Bachelor of Education and Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) Qualified Unemployed Federation resumed its suspended agitation on Monday. The federation is demanding that the Government should take immediate measures to remove the legal hurdles in the employment process of 1994 posts of primary teachers in the education department.
The General Secretary of the Federation Amit Kashyap told The Pioneer that they had suspended their agitation due to the general elections. He said that the process of recruitment of 1994 posts of primary teachers should be expedited and all posts should be filled before the Model Code of Conduct due to the Panchayat elections is imposed in the State.
On Monday a delegation of these youths met the Primary Education Director DS Kunwar and demanded that the department should also add 1,800 more posts which the State cabinet declared on March 5 in this recruitment process.
The State Government started the recruitment process in the 1994 seats of the Primary teachers in the month of March. The B.Ed. / TET qualified unemployed Federation fought a protracted battle with the state government for their recruitment as primary teachers. It is worth mentioning here that the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) has categorically ruled that only Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) qualified candidates should be enrolled as the primary teachers. It means that this recruitment drive is the last chance for thousands of B.Ed and TET qualified youths to get job in the primary teacher cadre of the State Government.
The recruitment drive was halted when the High court issued stay orders on the issue of reservations for the statehood activists and sportsmen and asked the state government to reply within three weeks and clarify the matter. The Federation is demanding that the State Government should clear the legal hurdles as soon as possible in the recruitment process.
