The members of Bachelor of Education (B Ed)/ Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) Federation met Education Minister Mantri Prasad Naithani on Friday and demanded that the education department should complete the recruitment process of primary teachers before September 30 and 389 more posts which were sanctioned by the State Cabinet should be added in the general category in the recruitment drive.
The general secretary of BEd/TET federation Amit Kashyap told The Pioneer that the State Cabinet had approved 389 posts of primary teachers in month of March and had decided to add them in the special recruitment drive of BEd/ TET candidates for primary teachers. He said that despite the approval of cabinet the education department has not added these posts in the recruitment drive as the finance department has not given its clearance. Kashyap said that since the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) has given its waiver for to the State Government for appointing B.Ed/ TET qualified candidates till September 30 only the education department should ensure that new appointments are made before this date. He said that the Education Minister assured them that the Government Order (GO) for adding 389 more posts would be released soon.
On Friday large number of B.Ed/ TET qualified youths assembled at the education directorate and demanded that the department should expedite the process of recruitment since all legal hurdles are removed now.
There are more than 25,000 B.Ed/ TET qualified unemployed youths in the State. In wake of NCTE guidelines these youths put pressure on the State Government for appointment in the primary teacher cadre. The State Government started the special recruitment for 1,898 posts of primary teachers and the department later added 96 and 800 more posts under backlog quota in this recruitment drive. The process was delayed when Tehri resident Keshawanad Jhildiyal challenged the recruitment in HC on the grounds that the process is not as per the guidelines laid down in the Uttarakhand Primary Teacher Service Rules 2012- amended 2013. Now these youths are desperate to get appointment as it is their last chance to get jobs as primary teachers in the Government schools of the State.
