The seven-year-old boy who was recently beaten up by his tuition teachers — a couple — is yet to recover from the trauma, though he is attending his school. Boy is under treatment and will take at least one month to recover fully, the family members said.
A complaint was filed against the couple — Ashish Kapil and Priya Kapil — who used to give tuitions to the boy along with others at their home, after Sanjay Singh SP city stepped in. It is learnt that Priya Kapil who is a teacher in Sherwood Public School was also the class teacher of the boy, has been suspended from the school following the incident, claimed Arun Bhargav, the victim’s father.
This incident occurred on September 12 when Akshat, the boy under question, went to take tuition. Priya asked her husband to check his homework. Arun Bhargav said that he had inserted the nib of a pencil deep into his palm aside from slapping him repeatedly, tearing his right eardrum, removing his trousers and asking him to kneel down. “This is horrendous and such a thing should not happen to any of the children,” he said.
Earlier too, the couple is known to have beaten children. “It put a blade into the skin of its own seven-year-old daughter for not scoring good marks,” alleged Bhargav.
Expressing anguish, an academician Raghu Tiwari said despite being banned, corporal punishment still prevails in public schools. “Though these things are being monitored in the schools the teachers in most of the schools tend to indulge in the same. This cripples the child who is thus punished psychologically. This is wrong and should be stopped,” he said.
