Be on guard against corrupt officials: CM to people

Exhorting the people of the state to be on their guard against the corrupt officials, the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat  said that once they come across any anomaly  they should inform the officers concerned immediately. “In case such officers are found sitting on the complaints they should lodge complaints against such officers at the chief minister’s office,” he said while addressing a public gathering organized to mark the birth anniversary of the founder of Jana Sangh, the parent party of the BJP,    Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee at Sahaspur in Dehradun on Thursday. He also announced on the occasion that Sahaspur canal would be named after Dr Mukherjee. Besides, a  water reservoir  at its source  would be constructed too.

Remembering warmly the contribution of  Dr Mukherjee to the country,  Rawat said that aside from being  the founder of Jana Sangh, he was  a great scholar and  an educationist. “He became the  vice chancellor of Calcutta University at the age of 32 years. Around 52 years ago, he had come to Sahaspur to inaugurate the Sahaspur canal. Despite being a great scholar and a towering leader, he lived like a  common man,” he said. On the occasion, he made announcement  of a string of projects worth Rs 15 crore involving the Sahaspur Assembly constituency limit.

He further announced that a Science City would come up at Sahaspur which  would become a pride for the state. “Sahaspur housing several higher educational and technical institutions, the  Science City would add to its status,” CM said.

He said that his government having completed around three and half months in office has made him to  realise that the  limited resources of the state should be judiciously  used to bring the desired level of development. He assured that his government would  not allow any hindrance to come in the state’s development. “I have already asked the MlAs to finalise the contours of the development- oriented works  for their respective constituencies. However, the common people must be involved in the devolvement works, for they are the real rulers,” he added.

Without naming anyone, he took a dig at the former regime, averring that his government was not dishing out false promises. “let me assure you that  98 percent announcements would be executed within the stipulated time frame,” he said.

Dwelling on the steps taken to give relief to the farmers, CM said that his government is providing loan at the interest rate of two percent to the small and border area farmers. “The condition of the secondary school education  is better in the state. However, there is a lot left to  improve the higher education system. The state government is going to establish NIFT, NIIT, plastic technology institutions and a hospitality university in the state,” he said.

While saying that his government has prepared a roadmap during its first 100 days, he said that they have roped in the retired army doctors to help the state get over the problem of  doctors’ crunch. “It is very heartening to note that 100 such doctors have agreed to work in the hospitals located  in  the remote areas of the state,” he said.

“Besides ,  the state government has decided to hand over the charge of running  Srinagar Medical College and Almora Medical College to the Army.  The common people would be immensely benefited,” CM said..
